hope is the feeling you have that the feeling you have isn't permanent (jean kerr)....hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out (vaclav havel)....now, Lord, what do i look for? my hope is in you (ps39:7).

my keys jingle and click as i turn them in my ignition, and my car wakes up to this beautiful day, just like i did a few hours ago. apparently the last time i was in my car i was listening to lifehouse...loudly. i turn it down a bit. it seems a bit irreverent in the midst of all the delicate sunshine glinting off the windshield. i make an arc out of the parking lot and roll down my window as i drive through campus. i pass people i know - some wave, some don't, some never look up from their cramming on the way to class. and then there's the stoplight, and i make a right on red, and the wind tickles my neck and lifehouse is wondering what is real or just a dream, and i'm somewhere in between...i pick up some sheetz for misty; she's got a rough week ahead of her. i drop by walmart, the bank, the salon. i skip a few songs because it's almost time for me to turn around, and i don't want to miss the good ones. skip, skip, skip. this car could take me so many places. i half-wonder why i don't just keep on driving, end up somewhere with new people, a great view, an all night diner that i could get friendly with. as a compromise, i decide to curve back to campus...the looong way. with my window down, my hand in the breeze.
