hope is the feeling you have that the feeling you have isn't permanent (jean kerr)....hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out (vaclav havel)....now, Lord, what do i look for? my hope is in you (ps39:7).

i've always had a particular dislike for sleeping bags. there's just too many negative connotations to ignore. a sleeping bag means you're not going to be sleeping on a bed, or even on a couch. we're talking cold, hard ground, baby. perhaps outside, where bugs will attack you and your neck will hurt from sub-zero temperatures. your pillow is sure to get a little too far away at some point in the night. and let's not even discuss the process it takes if you want to shift from your back to your stomach. but, to my great surprise, last night i slept better than i have in a long time...in a sleeping bag on my floor. my little sis is here for the weekend, enjoying the comforts of my bed. as i write this, she's still in it. and i set up camp wondering how many hours of rest i could eek out before the sun rose. but mmmmmm, i was so wrong. my neck does feel a little stiff, but that's about it. and i woke up in such a good mood because i felt like someone was hugging me all night long. yeah, that's a little embarassing to admit. as far as good lovin goes, i ain't got none. but it's kind of amazing to realize how good i feel this morning and how long it's been since i've even been embraced. i needed a good hug, i suppose. but how funny is it that i got one from my sleeping bag??
