hope is the feeling you have that the feeling you have isn't permanent (jean kerr)....hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out (vaclav havel)....now, Lord, what do i look for? my hope is in you (ps39:7).

i think someone wrote a song about rainy days and mondays, how they're the hardest days to live through. today was both rainy and monday. i spent the weekend in boston with friends from grove city. they got a keg and three bushels of crabs and we threw darts and watched football and forgot there was anything else except the now. i had a heck of a good time. david drove back with me last night, and then this morning came. end of the weekend, time for dave to go home again, time for me to take a histology quiz and get ready for my opp practical tomorrow. sometimes the mundaneness of a week feels too much to handle. do i want out? sometimes. but it's a useless wanting, one that won't get the best of me because the fear of what would happen if it did is monsterous. the part of me that's complaining will always be smaller than the part that asserts the bigger plan. still, there's something about monday that makes it almost seem saner to jump on a plane and fly anywhere than to do what's expected and show up on time, coffee in hand, where you're supposed to be.
